The Czech republic, formally known as Czechoslovakia is located in central Europe, it borders countries such as Poland, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary and of course Germany.
OSTRAVA nicknamed ‘The Steel Heart ‘ is the third largest city in the Czech Republic, Prague being the 1st and Brno the 2nd.
Since the Velvet Revolution ( fall of communism rule in 1989 ) the Czech republic has undergone some very radical changes, particularly in Ostrava, what was formally a coal mining and steel City has now become a bustling cosmopolitan area for other interests. The industrial past of Ostrava is now a site of historical interest, the Lower Vitkovice Area the former coal – mining, coke production and ironworks complex is a museum of significant importance, and has recently applied for the inscription on the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE listing.
